ב-1968 החל ברמן-קדים לעשות עבודות ששוברות את הצורה המלבנית / ריבועית וחורגות ממנה. הרעיון המרכזי היה שהפורמט צריך לנבוע ממה שהתחולל בציור ולא להתבסס על מסגרת נתונה מראש. הטריגר הראשוני לסדרה הזאת היה ההזמנה להשתתף בתערוכת הסתיו בביתן הלנה רובינשטיין (1968). שם הציג האמן עבודות גדולות שהתבססו על קנבסים מתוחים על גבי מסגרות בעלות צורות מורכבות. בהמשך עבר לעבודות קטנות יותר על עץ לבוד צבוע.

In 1968 Berman-Kadim began to create works that deviated from the norm of rectangular formats. The main idea was that the format should derive from what transpired in the painting. The initial trigger was an invitation to participate in the Autumn exhibitions at the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion (1968) for which he created canvas shaped to complex stretchers. Later he switched to painting smaller works on   plywood.
